The Rise of a New Destination
Lately, Pumdikot Hill, located in Pokhara Metropolitan City-22, has become an unmissable destination for tourists visiting Pokhara. The construction of a huge statue of Lord Mahadev, just a few steps away from Shanti Stupa, has transformed the identity of Pumdikot Hill.
Inspired by the tourists visiting the nearby Shanti Stupa, locals of Bhumdikot were eager to attract visitors to their area as well. They initiated several plans, including the construction of a ‘View Tower’.
The Vishal Mahadev Statue Project
Businessman and philanthropist Chandrakant Baral proposed a plan to create a statue of Vishal Mahadev. To support this initiative:
- The statue building committee organized Maha Yagya twice.
- Mahashivpuran events were held in 2073 and 2078 to highlight Pumdikot’s tourism potential.
- Initially, 20 ropani of land was donated along with financial contributions.
- All three levels of government and the general public have provided support and cooperation.

Key features of the statue:

The completion of the statue has significantly altered Pumdikot Hill’s identity and attracted a large number of tourists.
